Why wouldn’t I get a LaCrosse BC-700 over the BQ-CC65?Kind of pointless to speculate when the latter isn't professionally tested/reviewed yet. The BQ-CC65's features look okay, but it might as well be completely terrible when it comes to correctly terminating a charge, or accuracy. The BC-700 is a robust and proven device, and won't miss a minus-delta-V termination as long as you don't charge AA's at a current below 500mA. The only negative I can think of is that they can be picky with (clearly poor, or very worn) cells with a high internal resistance, but that could intended behavior to motivate people to stop using their bad/worn rechargeable cells.Panasonic/Sanyo Eneloop batteries always seem to get consistently high ratings over time. It's not the brand that makes these great, its the source.Only the ones from the (formerly Sanyo's) NiMH plant in Japan, which is now in the hands of FDK (Fujitsu) are highly rated. Any cells sold by other brands that sources them from this plant perform just as well (Fujitsu, Amazon, Ikea, certain Duracells, etc). Some Panasonic Eneloops (usually sold in certain parts of Asia,.

And thus ebay, I guess) are actually sourced from NiMH plants in China, and perform not nearly as well as FDK's. Sounds like you know something about batteries and chargers.I was thinking that charging at a lower current (i.e.

And a La Crosse BC900. I found the CC55 would not recognize older AA NiMH batteries and would give a flashing red light for each battery.
200mA vs 5 or 700mA) although slower, is better for the battery; as it's less likely to overheat. You seem to be saying that's not so? Help me understand.(I seem to recall reading it's better to charge older (or poorly conditioned) batteries at a lower charging current to help reestablish their original capacity. If I get this unit, I am wondering how to best utilize the various charging currents.) This stuff in interesting!I read that fully depleted batteries might not register enough voltage for the smart charger to activate - and the simple fix was to stick them in a 'dumb' charger (like my Duracell, I assume), to get them to register.
This BC-700 has a 'battery reconditioning' feature that fully charges & depletes battery, 20 times in a row, to condition it. Would that help with the bad/worn cells you mention?I am interested in diving in to rechargeables ASAP and want to make smart decisions. How do you know if batteries are made by FDK or not? I've had good luck with most all of my, 'Made in Japan' stuff and like to buy those.
Amazon's private label are cheaper than others, they're FDK, huh?I see Eneloop batteries now advertise 2,100 recharge cycles (vs 1,000 on the older ones), and see mAh capacities range from 1,000 to 2,400 (or so) in AA batteries. Are their reasons not to just go for the most cycles and capacity? (IOW, what are the best FDK high-capacity, longest charge cycle batteries you recommend.)Do you know of a better charger than the BC-700?
It seems the best for the money (at least on amazon).I know this is a lot to answer. I hope you have the time! Xmas is coming and I have several R/C toys landing under the tree for a 9 year old!. 200mA vs 500 or 700mA although slower, is better for the battery; as it's less likely to overheat.
